New LOST Theory:

As the greatest piece of television ever written comes to a end, I am giving my last few shots at unraveling the mystery before it is unfolded for us. My theory is that the “Alternate/Flash-Sideways” universe isn’t an alternate universe at all. They are flash-forwards, in the same sense of what he saw for Season 4. The flash-forwards are set after the finale of what happens on the Island. Something will occur that causes all of the Losties to not remember their time on the Island.

We know that Desmond is “special” and the “rules don’t apply to him”. When he went into the room where the bursts of energy were blasted into his body and he started experiencing the “flash-sideways” universe, he wasn’t experiencing an alternate reality; He was experiencing the same thing that happened when he saw Charlie’s future.

In last night’s episode (Don’t read further if you haven’t seen the episode), when the missile is shot at Jack and Locke picks him up, Jack receives a scar on his neck. It’s the same exact scar which he sees in the mirror on the plane in the season premiere.

There are also a shit load of arguments against this theory: Charlie, Libby, Ilana, Arzst, etc. would still be alive, Claire hasn’t had her baby, and a lot more.

Ok, I just spent a half hour writing this and I don’t even know what the fuck is going on. I’m giving up on this theory and just being happy with the last few episodes of the greatest story ever told.
